Firearms Training

Rules require that each in-service training session must include firearms training requalification with service pistol and any other authorized weapon.

The standards authorized and issued weapons for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office are the Sig Sauer P226 .40 caliber pistol; the Remington, Model 870, 12 gauge shotgun; and the Sig Sauer P239 pistol.

There will be a minimum of one (1) firearms qualification (POST certification) session each calendar year with additional practical, combat course training throughout the year. A qualifying score of 75% or better must be made on all required firearms courses for both the pistol and shotgun.
